Rajnikanth leaves no stones unturned to make Rana rock

MUMBAI: Rajnikanth is going all-out to make Rana a bigger product than Robot.

The superstar has been personally calling up the leading ladies and technicians to come on board.

While Hema Malini is still to say yes to his generous offer, according to information available with Businessofcinema.com, the latest actress to receive an offer to play one of the leading ladies is Lara Dutta.

Nobody says no to Rajnikanth! When he asks for something it is considered almost mandatory to oblige.

Sound designer Resul Pookutty, who unhappily declined the offer to work on K Ravi Kumar’s much talked-about Rana, had to quickly re-adjust his schedule and make space for Rana when Rajnikanth personally called to invite him onto the project.

Recalling the incident Pookutty says, "To understand what it means to receive a call from Rajnikanth, you have to have grown up in this part of the world. I’ve grown up idolizing him. When Rajni sir called up to ask me to do Rana, there was no question of turning him down."

Pookutty, who has frantically been trying to complete the post-production of Bedabrato Pain’s Chittagong, is now burning the midnight oil working on Rana.

He informs, "It’s a big challenge because I earlier did Robot with Rajni Sir. Believe it or not, that’s the only other film of his that I’ve worked on. We now have to go beyond that. I rang him up when I heard he was in hospital. He was laughing and joking, as usual. He is fine. Nothing can happen to Rajnikanth."
