MUMBAI: The release of Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots, which is produced by Vinod Chopra Films, is as per schedule on 25 December this year. Contrary to media reports stating that the release of the film has been postponed to January next year, an official from Vinod Chopra Films confirmed to Businessofcinema.com that the stories doing the rounds saying that the movie is postponed are completely baseless and false.
Media reports state that the producers’ committee was not in favour of the film’s release this year in December. However, this is not the case since the release date of all movies until 30 November, 2009 were decided unanimously by the committee post the strike was called off. Producers, were however, free to take a call independently on the release of their films that were slated to release from 1 December, 2009 onwards. Hence the question of the committee being involved here doesn’t arise.
3 Idiots stars Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R Madhavan, Sharman Joshi, Boman Irani and Mona Kapoor. The final shooting schedule of the film was wrapped up in Mumbai earlier this month. Hirani is currently working on the post-production.
