MUMBAI: Ram Gopal Varma has almost completed the shooting of Agyaat and has started the pre-production work of his next, Rann.
Casting Telegu film industry’s Nitin Reddy, who is known for his action stunts as the main lead, Varma has got Nisha Kothari, now called Priyanka Kothari, opposite him.
Varma, who spoke to Businessofcinema.com before the film had commenced shooting, said, "Agyaat is a film of the super natural. It’s the story of a film unit who is stranded at a densely forested area, and one by one the unit starts losing its cast and crew."
Varma has kept everything about this film under wraps, including the main cast. However, a source informs, "The entire film has been shot in Sri Lanka, near the rocky and dark forest area of Sigiriya. There is a big archaeological site out there, which along with Ritigala formed the core places for the shoot. The crew left around the second week of December and shot close to a month there."
Apart from two songs and some intense action scenes that were shot in Mumbai, the entire film has been filmed in Sri Lanka. Varma shot for a song in Mumbai’s Film City for four days, which was completed on earlier this week.
There were rumors that Agyaat has been acquired by UTV. However, at the time of filing this story, UTV Rampage Motion Pictures COO Ram Mirchandani was not available for comment. The film is expected to release in May.
