RSE, Scrabble to release The President is Coming digitally

Ramesh Sippy Entertainment will be releasing The President is Coming - exclusively on the 2K Digital Platform.

Mumbai: Ramesh Sippy Entertainment (RSE) will be releasing its forthcoming movie – The President is Coming – exclusively on the 2K Digital Platform. The company has tied up with Scrabble Entertainment for the same.

The small budget movie, directed by Kunaal Roy Kapoor, will not be released on the physical print format in Mumbai. The film will have prime show timings in all the screens. RSE is under contract with Scrabble Entertainment to use their wide Digital platform of 2K Digital Screens throughout India. The movie will hit theatre screens on 28 November.

The President is Coming is an English film and the first ever Mockumentary about new India. It is a comedy about young India’s ambitions and aspirations. With a style that is very tongue in cheek, the film takes a look at President George Bush’s visit to India in 2006 where he wanted to shake hands with one young Indian under the age of 30.

Originally a play written by Anuvab Pal, this film is a humourous take on India Shining. It features six characters who reflect the classic new India undergoing a gruesome contest to become the lucky winner to shake hands with the President.

Pal has earlier co-written Loins Of Punjab. Kapoor debuts as a feature film director with this film. He has earlier directed the original play.

The President is Coming stars Konkona Sen Sharma, Shernaz Patel, Ira Dubey, Vivek Gomber, Satchit Puranik, Namit Das, Anand Tiwari and Shivani Tanksale.

Producer Rohan Sippy says, "It is wonderful to be the first producer to put true digital cinema before an Indian audience–from acquisition all the way to flawless projection of the final image. Our comedy is a fresh take on ‘India Shining’, which makes it an even better association with Scrabble and a technology that is bound to fundamentally change not only the viewer’s experience, but transform the films we make and the way we make them."

Scrabble Entertainment CEO Ranjit Thakur adds, "This move by RSE will create a new revolution in Indian Cinema. The 2K Platform will enable them to release the film at zero print cost and also enhance the Box Office collections as it will get Prime show timings in all screens. The patrons will be privileged to see the film in the World’s best image resolution: 2K."
