MUMBAI :Abu Salem, gangster and an accused in the 1993 Mumbai blasts case saw his efforts to stall the release of the film Gangster, thrown out of court. Early newspaper reports suggested that the film Gangster by Mahesh Bhatt had a storyline which resembled Salem’s life and his escape round the world with his consort actress Monica Bedi. Shiney Ahuja and debutante Kangna Ranaut were playing the said roles… with Bhatt regular Emraan Hashmi being thrown in for good measure.
But a Mumbai court ruled that since the lawyers did not plan to take any further action, the case stood on loose grounds. Gangster’s presenter Mahesh Bhatt and producer Mukesh Bhatt was represented by Majeed Memon while Ashok Sarogi represented Salem.
