Omega makes shift in ad strategy

Swiss watch maker Omega recently announced that they have decided to make a vital shift in their advertising campaigns by experimenting with brand ambassadors that are not famous, but pack in the message of Omega. This experiment is slated to kick off in India in three to four weeks.

This will be bold step for Omega after relying on famous stars for so long, a list which includes the likes of Oscar-winning Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman, Formula 1 champion Michael Schumacher, top golfer Ernie Els, swimming superstar Ian Thorpe and former supermodel and entrepreneur Cindy Crawford to name a few.

India lends itself to the new experiment since Omega’s brand ambassador in India is Sonali Bendre, a one-time Bollywood starlet. Of late there has also been speculation that Omega may be taking on another band ambassador for India, most likely to be Abhishek Bachchan. But as of now one can only guess, it could be somebody unknown, or someone known.

Omega believes that though the new brand ambassadors may not be known, they will share the perceived qualities of Omega watches. The advertisements featuring them will also carry a message that the personalities will endorse.

All wait eagerly to see how this experiment will turn out.
