Salman Khan’s Tubelight To Not Release On Eid In Pakistan?

Salman Khan’s Tubelight is facing problems in the release in Pakistan due to the local producers!

The Bollywood star Salman Khan’s much anticipated film – Tubelight is releasing this year on Eid. It will be releasing on June 25th in India but the film seems to be facing difficulties for the release in the neighbouring country, Pakistan.

There are reports doing round in the media that the local filmmakers and organisations have requested for a hold on the release of Tiger Zinda Hai in Pakistan. They feel that Indian films always dominate the business of local films and Eid being a festive period, they should be given a chance to make some good money.

According to these protestants, the Federal Ministry of Information in 2010 has banned the release of any Indian film on a muslim holiday in the country.

Yalghaar and Shor Sharaba are the two local films which are releasing around festive season of Eid in Pakistan.

Sohail Khan, Producer of Shor Sharaba says, “Indian films dominate our box office the whole year round. It’s only fair that Eid — being a Muslim festival — should not be. Besides, as Pakistanis, we must support the release of local content first.” He even said that he is going to protest if he government doesn’t consider their plea as he adds, “Shor Sharaba’ is supposed to release on Eidul Fitr and if the government doesn’t stall Tubelight, I will not release my film as a protest.”

Another filmmaker Altaf Hussain said, “It’s been decided that all those related to the Pakistani film industry will support the Pakistani films that are supposed to release on Eidul Fitr.”

An actor, Mustafa Qureshi from the country even said that he is totally against the release of Indian films in Pakistan. He said, “I have always maintained that there should be a complete ban on Indian films.”

The chairman of Pakistan’s Film Distributor’s Association said, “Allowing Tubelight to release on Eid is 100% against the interest of local cinema, which is already struggling financially.”

Well, amidst all such protests it would be interesting to see if Salman Khan’s Tubelight is able to manage its release on the pre-decided date in the neighbouring country!
