MUMBAI: Saregama India VP – music Atul Churamani has put in his papers at the company after a stint spanning a little more than eight years.
Churamani’s last day at Saregama India is today (3 June). He is slated to join OnMobile India as the head of content division.
Speaking on his decision to move, Churamani tells Businessofcinema.com, "The business needs to move on in a different direction now and hence the decision to join OnMobile. The current relationship between music companies and digital companies is a rocky one. I will be setting up and heading the content division at OnMobile. I feel there’s a huge opportunity in content, which is not being utilised as yet. Mobile ringtones and CRBTs are just the tip of the iceberg as far as digital content is concerned."
OnMobile is a data and Value Added Services (VAS) company for mobile, landline and media service providers and has users across 52 countries. While Churamani has been a consultant with the company, he will be joining the company on 15 June.
Prior to joining Saregama India, Churamani was Virgin Records India director A&R and marketing. He started his career with Magnasound India in 1988.
