Saregama profit up by 110 per cent

MUMBAI: Saregama India has announced a 110 per cent growth in its net consolidated profits for the fiscal ended 31 March 2007.


The company, that has reported a 14 per cent growth in revenue, claims that its profit before tax of Rs 156.2 million (Rs 1562 lakh) is the highest ever in its 106 year history.


The company claims that there has been focus on music creation, acquisition, marketing, publishing and aggregation across main languages and genres with a strong consumer connect this year.  The company has also flagged off a Band Talent hunt in Chennai and Hyderabad with A R Rahman to be featured in the largest TV network in the South.


Saregama has also recently roped in filmmaker Aparna Sen in its leadership team. She will direct the company’s feature film program, which has several films in the pipeline.


The company is building up its television content in the South and plan to extend to other languages starting with Bangla.
