MUMBAI: The Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI) re-opened on Friday after a closure for nine days.
The issue was settled between local MP Sujan Chakraborty, SRFTI chairman Buddhadeb Dasgupta and SRFTI director Swapan Mallick.
The institute was closed earlier this month when the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) backed workers resisted the entry of a new group of security workers.
SRFTI opened with new security guards posted on the campus.
As per media reports, SRFTI authorities handed over charge to GD Security Company and replaced the employees of Star Security and Detective Agency who have been agitating over a dues dispute.
Dasgupta was quoted in media reports as saying they were happy that classes would resume from Friday. "We were trying hard to solve the sudden deadlock. We are grateful to two persons whose efforts helped solve the crisis – MP Sujan Chakraborty and I&B minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi," he was quoted as saying.
