MUMBAI: Ask Saurabh Shukla about his latest film and he will promptly say, “Oh you are talking about the film that has been co-produced by my home production, Married Print Films and NDTV Imagine, well the title is, “This is not called anything yet.” Don’t take him seriously as that is not the name of the film. The producers are still hunting for an apt title and as people invariably ask what is the name of your film, the funny bone in Saurabh Shukla replies in the absurd.
The film has his inner circle of friends like Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak and Neha Dhupia. Written and directed by Saurabh, the film is a romantic comedy. The story moves between Benaras and Mumbai, and that is all what he will disclose now.
Most of the multiplex film these days, invariably boast of the same cast. Kapoor, Pathak and Shorey are often cast together and these films have their own niche audience. Shukla wanted to cast himself in the film, but he confessed, “The tragedy is that I cannot cast myself in the main lead. When I direct, it is too much of a job. But since I love acting, I thought of doing a guest appearance. So who knows, you might just see me do a small cameo like all the big directors do in their own films.” On that mischievous note, the director signed off, promising to let us know the name of his film as soon as it is finalized.
