MUMBAI: It’s a flash-decision taken to avoid any misrepresentation of the superstar’s participation in a film. Remember how Shah Rukh Khan’s guest appearance in Dulha Mil Gaya and Billu were completed misconstrued and mis-marketed? The actor has now decided to stay completely out of a new film that he has produced and keenly supported.
Khan will not appear in the film Always Kabhi Kabhi, which is produced under Red Chillies Entertainment and which he has been promoting with a vengeance. The film also contains a much-publicized item song by Khan. He has now clearly specified to the film’s director Roshan Abbas that the song will not be used within the plot of the film. At the most Khan’s item song will be used in the beginning or end titles.
Confirming this to Businessofcinema.com, Roshan says, “We’re really very clear on this. Always Kabhi Kabhi is a film about the young and those just stepping into the thick of life. If we got someone of Shah Rukh’s standing, stature and clout to support the film that’s our good fortune but we certainly don’t want his presence to tilt the film’s balance. Let’s face it, if we have Shah Rukh in the film, he will automatically become the centre of all attention. So yes we’ve decided not to include the Antenna song in the film.”
