Kaminey was a very different film from the fare that he has churned out in the past. Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, he says, "I have never done a role like that in the past. It was a bigger challenge to convince the audience of something that they don’t expect from you or don’t think that you can do or would be surprised if you could pull it off. It was a very big step I took because people usually end up doing it at the end of their career. A lot of people told me that I should not do it but I had great faith in the director and I was very excited to do it so I did it."
Post the success of Kaminey, Shahid is all ready to experiment with different roles. He wants to do roles that he has never done before. He says, "The fact that the audience has accepted a different film widens the horizon for me as an actor. It gives me confidence to do different kinds of role from the kind of roles that I am doing. I have been accepted in a different light and that’s very crucial for me."
Kapur is open to doing films of different genres like comedy, action, thriller etc. "I am an actor who would want to do all kinds of films. I am at a phase in my career where I am still discovering myself. I want to do an out an out commercial film, I want to do films that are out of the box, I want to do a little bit of everything," he adds.
In his forthcoming film, Dil Bole Hadippa, he plays a sportsman, which is again something he has never done before. On the other hand, in Chance Pe Dance, he plays the role of a dancer.
However, Shahid is doing a love story with his father Pankaj Kapur. "I know I am going to be offered a love story because people like me in that so that is something I would like to continue doing. However, at the same time I hope after Kaminey people see me in a different light and realize that I can achieve as an actor different characters, which people might not expect me to do," says Shahid.
Dil Bole Hadippa releases on 18 September while Chance Pe Dance is slated to release in November or December 2009.
