MUMBAI: Even as general entertainment channel, Colors is celebrating its first year in existence, plans for its reality show Bigg Boss are underway for its second season.
One of the big factors in audiences tuning onto the new channel was the hyped reality show of Bigg Boss. With twelve inmates locked in a house for three months, the show’s concept ensured a good start. But it was the selection of the candidates that sparked off major interest for the show. And now the channel is keen to start its second season from September.
Another key factor for this show’s success was the presence of Shilpa Shetty. The Big Brother winner was paid a whopping amount to host the show. And now that Shilpa is back in Mumbai after her IPL sojourn and the subsequent holiday in London with boyfriend, Raj Kundra, rumours are out that she will hosting the second season too. However Shetty tells Businessofcinema.com, "Nothing has been decided yet. We will take it forward once the dates of the show are locked."
However, channel sources say, "The show is scheduled for a September telecast. We are putting our technical crew in place and talking to people about the contestants. The success of the show depends upon good celebrities who will make good television viewing and at the same time there has to be a novelty factor. Nobody wants to see the same faces on television."
With reality shows on the rise, Colors will be on the hunt not just for new faces for the second season of Bigg Boss, but also interesting content to ensure audiences can get hooked on to it, all over again.
