Mumbai: Will Smith-starrer Hancock, which was slated for a release on 4 July, has been postponed by a week. The film will now release on 11 July.
On 4 July, Bollywood flicks like Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na and Love Story 2050 are slated to hit theatres. Both films stars debutant actors Imran Khan and Harman Baweja respectively.
Confirming the development to Businessofcinema.com, Sony Pictures India managing director Kercy Daruwala says, "Yes, we are now releasing Hancock on 11 July. The market situation on 4 July is tight, so by releasing on 11 July we will get better programming for the movie in multiplexes."
He adds, "Hancock’s hype is building up well in the US and we hope to capitalize on it for a week before Hancock’s India release."
In the US, Hancock releases on 2 July, in other countries on 4 July. In India, the movie will release with more than 300 prints including dubbed versions and digital prints of the film.
Sony Pictures is targeting for the film to gross Rs 300 million (Rs 30 crores) in India.
