Sony’s Vantage Point to release on 29 Feb

MUMBAI: Sony’s action-thriller Vantage Point is releasing across India on 29 February in English  and Hindi. The film opened to the number one spot at the North American box office with an estimated $24 million across 3149 theatres over the weekend 23-25 February.

Vantage Point stars Dennis Quaid, Matthew Fox, Forest Whitaker, Willaim Hurt and Sigourney Weaver and is directed by newcomer Pete Travis. The film is an action-packed thriller which tells the story of eight strangers who have eight different points of view of one incident – an assassination attempt on the president of the United States.

Thomas Barnes (Quaid) and Kent Taylor (Fox) are two secret service agents assigned to protect President Ashton (Hurt) at a landmark summit on the global war on terror. When President Ashton is shot moments after his arrival in Spain, chaos ensues and disparate lives collide in the hunt for the assassin.

In the crowd is Howard Lewis (Whitaker), an American tourist who thinks he’s captured the shooter on his camcorder while videotaping the event for his kids back home. Also there, relaying the historic event to millions of TV viewers across the globe, is American TV news producer Rex Brooks (Weaver). As they and others reveal their stories, the pieces of the puzzle will fall into place – and it will become apparent that shocking motivations lurk just beneath the surface.
