MUMBAI: Hunky Bollywood actor John Abraham is finally coming into his own, and is comfortable in the space he’s occupying now in the big, bad world of cinema.The forty year-old star reveals why he’s happy that people have started to take him seriously.
We spotted John Abraham outside his residence in Bandra, Mumbai. Looking relaxed-chic (as is his trademark style), John was seen in a comfortable loose navy blue shirt and white linen pants. The down-to-earth actor-cum-producer was taking a stroll outside his home, in a comfy pair of chappals.
Says the muscle-man, of his relief at finally been taken seriously by the industry: “After I turned producer last year with ‘Vicky Donor’ things have changed for me. Industry people have started taking me seriously. I think somewhere that was the turning point. They all understood that content matters to me.”
John further added how he’s always chosen the road less traveled, as far as his choice in films is concerned. “I did films like ‘No Smoking’, ‘Kabul Express’, ‘Water’ which were different and ahead of their time. But ‘Vicky Donor’ was a big turning point.”
Post his successful turn as producer with last year’s sleeper hit ‘Vicky Donor’ we’re glad John will be returning to face the camera. His lineup of films includes Kapil Sharma’s ‘I, Me Aur Main’, ‘Shootout At Wadala’ and Shoojit Sircar’s ‘Madras Cafe’.
“I want to do films of different genres,” adds John. “Like ‘I, Me Aur Main’ is a slice of life, ‘Shootout At Wadala’ is action and ‘Madras Cafe’ is a political thriller.”
