Star India appoints Giri as EVP, GM – regional channels

Mumbai: Star India has appointed J C Giri as executive vice president and general manager – regional channels.

Prior to joining Star India, Giri served as Ogilvy, Mumbai president.

Star India CEO Uday Shankar said, "We are happy to have Giri on board with us at Star. He takes charge of our planned portfolio of regional channels in Bengali, Gujarati and Marathi. He will be responsible for the timely and successful launches of these channels, in line with the high standards of any new launch from the Star stable."

Giri added, "The challenge is to continue driving the value of the Star network to all its stakeholders. We are committed to high quality broadcast entertainment that will engage viewers in their native languages at the local level."

As O&M Mumbai president, Giri pioneered the AOR concept of outdoor media in India at Ogilvy Chennai. He then moved to Mumbai and was made the head of Ogilvy Mumbai.
