MUMBAI: Star India CEO Uday Shankar and Fox International Productions president Sanford Panitch received the 2010 Industry Leadership Award at the 8th Annual Indian Film Festival Los Angeles (IFFLA).
The award to Shankar was given for his outstanding contribution to the Indian media and entertainment industry.
As CEO of Star India, Shankar has led the company’s transformation from a leading broadcaster to an integrated media company with a significant presence in regional broadcasting, film production, cable, DTH and home shopping. He also manages Star ‘s international businesses. Prior to joining Star India, Shankar served as CEO of Star joint venture MCCS for over three years.
The awards were created in 2008 to recognize the achievements of entertainment industry executives who have had a substantial and personal impact on the creation and distribution of Indian-themed content globally and have additionally led the expansion of the entertainment and media industry.
