On the occasion of the 137th Birth Anniversary of Shri Dadasaheb Phalke celebrated on 30 April, 2006, at Bhaidas Auditorium, an event was presided by Shri Subhash Ghai (CMD Mukta Arts), was graced by all sectors of the film industry.
Senior members from various crafts & sectors of film iIndustry were honoured on this occasion. Academy trophies were awarded to Manoj Kumar (Legend Award as Producer, Director, Writer & Actor), Shreyas Talpade (for his memorable performance in Iqbal) and Ms Vidya Balan (for her memorable performance in Parineeta), Bappi Lahiri (acknowledged for his contribution to the industry), Veeru Devgan (for his contribution in the stunts/fight department and others like Anwar Siraj, Ali Raza, Sujit Kumar, Kamal Kumar Barjatya, Basu Chatterji, Meena Rai, Ram Mohan, Shakila, B M Vyas and P V Gangadharan from South.
On this occasion Subhash Ghai had announced his yearly support of Rs. 5,00,000 (Rupees Five Lakhs) for the cause of service to the Father of Indian Cinema, Dadasaheb Phalke. Academy’s Chairman Shri. Santosh Singh Jain addressed the need of a Phalke Bollywood Show every year to generate funds to fight with the problems of piracy and to fulfill the common welfare needs of the film industry.
The ceremony was well graced by who’s who of the film industry.
