Sulakshana Pandit poised for second innings

MUMBAI: Actor and singer Sulakshana Pandit, last seen in the 1983 film Razia Sultan, returns to the big screen with Kuch Kehna Hai.

The film, produced by Ashutosh Chaurasia, has been directed by Shantanu Dev. Kolkata businessman turned producer Chaurasia says, “The 7/11 Mumbai blasts inspired me and Shantanu Dev to make a film on the subject. We were delighted when Sulakshana agreed to do the film. She plays the strong central character of a mother to Hyder Ali Khan, who plays her Indian son. Vinay Anand, the other hero, plays a Pakistani. The female leads are played by Sheetal Joshi and Anandi Tripati. The Indian boy falls in love with a Pakistani girl, while a Pakistani boy loves an Indian girl. We are in the post-production stages currently.”

G D Maity, assistant to Ashok Mehta has wielded the camera for the film, while Bappi Lahiri has composed the music. Pandit has acted in popular films like Apnapan, Khandaan, Raaz and Thief of Baghdad in the 1970s.
