Tarannum Khan to sue Sanjay Gupta

MUMBAI: Bar dancer Tarannum Khan is planning to sue filmmaker Sanjay Gupta for basing one of the characters in his film Shootout At Lokhandwala, on her.

The film stars Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Abhishek Bachchan, Vivek Oberoi, Arjun Rampal, Tusshar Kapoor, Arbaaz Khan and Neha Dhupia.

“I have not yet received any summons. Let me clarify that my film is based from 1980 to 1991 and I don’t think the bar dancer was in the picture then. There seems to be some confusion,” says producer Sanjay Gupta.

Director Apoorva Lakhia adds, “It’s a total misunderstanding, which I would like to clear. Firstly, Aarti Chhabria is playing a bar dancer in the film and her character is not based on Tarannum. Secondly, the film is based from the year 1980 to 1991, so where is the question of Tarannum coming in the picture at all. I have not received any summons.”

“The film is a tussle between cops and the underworld, based on the shootout, which took place in Lokhandawala Complex. A top super cop’s encounter with five members of a underworld gang and the true story behind these events. The movie is 75 per cent complete and waiting for the clearance of Sanay Dutt from the case,” adds Lakhia.

On the other hand, Tarannum’s lawyer Hemanshu Basondi informs, “My client read an article in a newspaper that actress Aarti Chhabria is playing Taranuum on screen in Sanjay Gupta’s Shootout At Lokhandwala. My client doesn’t want to be portrayed in any Bollywood films hence she wants to take legal action on them. We are working on the issue and it will take some days.”
