MUMBAI: Taiwanese Film ‘Three Times’ (2005) directed by Hou Hsiao-Hsien featured three chronologically separate love stories set in 1911, 1966 and 2005, using the same lead actors.

Expected to release sometime in June 2012, ‘Teri Meri Kahaani’ directed by Kunal Kohli, starring Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra, is known as "thrice upon a love story", as the premise is set between 1910, 1960, and 2012. Each character plays a different role in each time period.

Inspite of a very similar theme on face value, Director Kunal Kohli has denied any comparisons between his film and ‘Three Times’.

"I have not seen the ‘Three Times’ to begin with. I would still say our film is completely different. It is just a coincidence," he said after unveiling the first look of ‘Teri Meri Kahani’.

"Now-a-days if you want to remake a film, you just buy the rights and make the film. So if I wanted to make Three Times I would have bought the rights," he explained. Kohli also added, "When I made ‘Hum Tum’ there was a film called ‘Before Sunset’ that came six months after, and it had the exact opening like my film."
