The Bong Connection to release on 6 July

MUMBAI: Anjan Dutt’s first crossover film The Bong Connection is slated for release all over the country on 6 July 2007.

The movie features Shayan Munshi, Raima Sen, Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Peeya Rai Chowdhary.

A warm hearted, hilarious drama about two men in this crazy, global world, the story revolves around two characters, Andy (Shyan Munshi) who is a young. Bengali musician from New York and the Kolkata based Texas aspirant Apu (Parambrata Chattopadhyay). While living in a country that seems beyond Indian culture is not what Andy can relate to, Apu is today’s youth of India who sees Bengali culture as obsolete and would rather live a free life in a city like Texas. While the characters are not even related in the movie, instances that occur within their lives form the essence of the movie in its entirety.

Says Dutt, “After directing Bada Din and Bow Barracks Forever, I am embarking on a new journey in life with The Bong Connection. This is going to be my first experiment with directing an English language feature film out of the country.”

Neel Dutt is the music director and he has also written the lyrics along with Anjan Dutt. The music comprises songs from baul and Rabindrasangeet to English music. Nachiketa, Shaan, Swapan Basu, Shreya Ghoshal and Rupankar have rendered their voices to the tracks in the album.
