MUMBAI: After Race and Kismat Konnection last year, Tips Films is now readying to release three movies in 2009.
Producer Ramesh Taurani has produced Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani starring Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif and To Baat Pakki starring Tabu and Sharman Joshi. On the other hand, Kumar Taurani has produced an action – thriller film titled Prince starring Vivek Oberoi and Nandana Sen.
Currently, the Taurani brothers are in negotiations to lock a distribution deal for the films to either sell them collectively or separately, depending on the best offer at hand.
Sources inform Businessofcinema.com that the three films have been produced in a budget of Rs 1 billion (Rs 100 crores) and the producers are looking at an amount in the range of Rs 1.2 – 1.3 billion (Rs 120- 130 crores) for the films rights, excluding music.
Speaking to Businessofcinema.com, Kumar Taurani says, "I cannot comment on the figures but we are certainly in talks for the distribution rights. All the films will be ready by June- July and will release this year itself."
Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani, a romantic comedy directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, will be the first in the lot to release, followed by Prince and To Baat Pakki. "If all goes well we want to release Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani in July. We are open to selling the three films together or even separately, depending on the offer," adds Ramesh Taurani.
Late last year, rumours were rife that the two brothers had split and are producing films separately. Clarifying on the same, Kumar Taurani says, "There is no fall out between us. We just decided to produce films separately, so that we can produce more number of films. Last year we produced two films, and this year there are three films."
