MUMBAI: Amar Chitra Katha (ACK) Media has inked a content partnership with Turner International India, to introduce Amar Chitra Katha stories as television shows and short films.
The 26-episode series and two 70-minute films will be aired on the network’s channels Cartoon Network and Pogo.
ACK Media and Turner International will produce animated shows and films for the channels. The first film called Tripura: The Three Cities of Maya, will be released in the summer 2010. The second film, Sons of Rama, will be released in the third quarter of next year.
Turner International India – South Asia vice-president and deputy general manager, entertainment networks Monica Tata said, "Amar Chitra Katha has entertained many generations. We are happy to provide a platform to recreate the magic of the legendary Amar Chitra Katha stories in an animated format."
ACK Media CEO Samir Patil added, "ACK, which is synonymous with storytelling, will retain its flavour and look on TV. After seeing tremendous growth in the print medium, we decided to push Indian animation to the next level via with this partnership. The 2D animation TV show will have a unique look of story. However, the technique of storytelling will remain the same."
