MUMBAI: Actor R Madhavan is on a brand endorsement spree. After recently signing up with Atul Kasbekar’s talent management company Bling Entertainment Solutions, the actor has got a couple of new brands in his kitty.
While Madhavan was recently appointed as the brand ambassador for Maruti’s Wagon R, the actor will now be seen endorsing UAE mobile handset player SPARK Mobiles. The brand is scheduled to launch in India before the end of 2009.
Spark Mobiles is a part of the UAE based Spark Group of Companies.
Spark Group of Companies chairperson Elaine Ester Roach said, "We have a strong base and a respectable market share in the United Arab Emirates, and are now eying India as an important potential market for our growth strategy. We have a demonstrable past of challenging established brands, and are confident our handsets would be a hit amongst Indian audiences. We are launching Indestructible mobiles for Indestructible Indians."
"A key driver of the brand’s success is its research and development division. Spark mobile phone handsets are the culmination of an intensive study, cutting-edge technology and design innovation. Our handsets are the toughest phone in the world with amazing first of its kind features," added Roach.
Madhavan said, "Whatever I have heard so far and during my earlier discussions with Ms. Elaine, I have no doubt that Spark Mobile phones will be a roaring success in India and globally. The single most important fact that convinced me to endorse this product was the amount of research and development that has gone into the making of the phones. It is indeed an Indestructible Mobile for the Indestructible Indian. This is an additional aspect that compelled me to be associated with the brand. The unique features that the mobile has will have every Indian aspiring to own a Spark mobile. I will be involved in all the marketing communications activities of Spark and also play a role as decided mutually in their Corporate Social Responsibility programs in India."
The mobiles will be categorized into three, based upon features to cater to every Indian consumers needs. While the toughness is the central theme, which runs through all the categories, the lowest priced is the basic model, which would be followed by the feature packed medium range along with the high end set, which will be positioned as a lifestyle product.
Currently, the handsets marketed in the country will be manufactured in the United Arab Emirates, where Spark has its production and R&D facilities. Plans are to set up a manufacturing base in India too in the near future.
