MUMBAI: Media company UTV and computer giant Hewlett-Packard (HP) have struck an alliance, which envisages HP deploying information technology infrastructure and applications at UTV, to achieve cost advantages and derive business benefits in the digital animation and media market.
HP will implement an infrastructure that includes a strong portfolio comprising the company’s virtualised storage solutions, Blade servers, Workstations, procurve and other IT services. This IT infrastructure will aid UTV to cater to the demands of the Indian animation genre – both films and television programming, says a release.
Says UTV vice president animation business development Jyotirmoy Saha, “There was a clear need to ramp up our backend infrastructure to support our growth. HP helped create a highly robust and reliable IT infrastructure that could address the performance requirements of demanding animation applications.”
Media and entertainment is an emerging industry and has significant growth potential in India. HP India segment manager M&E Pankaj Mathur added, “We see tremendous potential in this segment for HP. As a leading provider of IT solutions, HP brings significant domain expertise to the media and entertainment segment that enables customers to scale their existing environments. You will see us playing an active leadership role in this segment.”
