UTV to launch two channels on IPTV in East Asia, Australia

Mumbai: UTV Global Broadcasting Limited (UGBL) has entered into an agreement with IPTV service provider The New Media Group (TNMG) to launch its channels UTV Movies and UTVi on TNMG’s World On-Demand in Japan, Australia and New Zealand from 1 August.

After having successfully launched its bouquet of five channels in India in a short span of six months, UGBL is now focusing on reaching out to the South Asian Diasporas overseas.

Said UGBL executive director Shantonu Aditya, "We are pleased to announce the launch of our channels on the World On Demand platform. TNMG has created a first-rate and progressive platform in the emerging media landscape and it is encouraging for us to be a part of the momentum at which, IPTV is turning into an alternative content delivery mode."

The channels will be bundled in ‘Community Packages’ intended for the Subcontinent community subscribers of World-On-Demand well as in the World News Pack and Asian Culture Pack.

"I like UTV’s content, and so do a lot of other people," said TNMG vice-president of distribution and sales Sumit Ahuja. "This offering really is also a good way for TNMG to take our message of ‘cross cultural content’ into multiple communities. Our subscribers from other communities are sure to like UTV’s channels."
