UTV to score a ‘Goal’ with marketing

MUMBAI: With less than a month left for the release of John Abraham, Arshad Warsi and Bipasha Basu starrer Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal, the marketing of the film is soaring. Apart from roping in brands and conducting promotional activities, UTV Motion Pictures has a lot more brewing for the film.

UTV marketing head Shikha Kapoor says, “Goal will have retail activation with Reebok across their 536 outlets in India. Reebok has sponsored the clothing line in the film.”

Goal and Reebok will have co-branded window displays in Reebok showrooms to promote the Goal range. Co-branded television commercials (TVC) too will roll out soon. Apart from this, plans are to unveil the Goal collection by conducting a fashion show.

The movie will also see two premieres, one in Dubai on 21 November and the other in Mumbai on 22 November. “On the day of the Mumbai premiere, we are also planning to have a match between the Goal team and another club,” says Kapoor.

Prior to this, UTV Motion Pictures had also conducted a promotional cricket match before the release of their movie Hattrick.

Since Goal, is sports based and lends itself naturally to games, hence through Indiagames (gaming company in which UTV has a controlling stake) and Bindass (UTV’s youth channel) a Dhan Dhana Dhan Goal FIFA Challenge has also been announced. This is going to be a national-level FIFA gaming championship. Additionally, Indiagames is launching the Goal mobile game, which will be available-to-download with all leading Indian mobile operators.

A few days prior to the release, a Goal tour will also be conducted in the bus, which has been shown in the movie. The team will travel to Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkota and Bangalore. “This is a below the line (BTL) activity wherein the entire Southall Team comprising John, Bipasha, Arshad, Boman and the remaining players will go to malls, school and colleges,” informs Kapoor. One such tour has already been conducted at an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT).

To add to all this, a promotional song too is being shot with John and Bipasha. “Goal is not just a sports film, it is also about human drama and emotions. So we thought it would be nice to shoot a song with just John and Bipasha and project something beyond sports,” adds Kapoor.

This video will be shot on 30 and 31 October and the music of the film will release in the first week of November. The movie is slated for a theatrical release on 23 November.
