MUMBAI: UTV Motion Pictures, which released Mira Nair’s The Namesake with 48 prints across India, has added 11 more prints in the second week.
The additional 11 prints have been added in the West and South Indian markets in cities like Ahmedabad, Baroda, Bangalore and Hyderabad. The total number of The Namesake’s prints now stands at 59.
In the first week, while The Namesake released in 27 Mumbai theatres with 16 prints and 73 shows per day, the number has been increased in week two with 20 prints in 31 screens with 99 shows per day.
Additional theatres were added in Ahemadabad, Baroda, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kanpur and Chandigarh on 30 March 2007, thus increasing the total number of theatres from 67 to 79 screens. On 6 April, the movie will open in cities like Chennai, Mangalore, Surat, Indore and Vizag. The movie will also open in North Indian cities like Chandigarh and Kanpur.
The Namesake opened well in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkatta and Pune. At Inox (Nariman Point, Mumbai), has recorded the highest net collection for the movie in India with Rs 566,189 followed by PVR (Juhu, Mumbai) with Rs 550,768. On the other hand, in PVR Saket (Delhi), the movie collected Rs 515,523 with 100 per cent occupancy on all seven days of the week.
The net box office collections of the movie in its first week stand at Rs 12.6 million (Rs 1.26 crore).
