Vashu-David-Govinda team again after eight years

Mumbai: After a eight years’ sabbatical, the hit combination of producer Vashu Bhagnani, director David Dhawan and actor Govinda are coming back once again and with a bang.

Bhagnani says, “Yes, we have teamed once again. Govinda was concentrating on his political career whereas David too had his hands full. My last film with David was Biwi No. 1 in 1999. Govinda, David and I had the distinction of churning out hits like Coolie No. 1 in 1995, Hero No. 1 in 1997 and Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan in 1998. Once the subject is streamlined, we will come out with an official announcement.”

According to information available with Businessofcinema.com, keeping their penchant for entertaining the audience the trio are supposedly working on a project inspired from the Hollywood film Bowfinger. Bhagnani, however refutes these rumours and says, “It hasn’t been inspired by the Hollywood film.”

To put it on records, the gross all India collection of Hero No. 1 was in the region of Rs 1.89 billion, while that of Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan was Rs 2.22 billion. With this kind of track record and the lavishness of Bhagnani’s ventures, it remains to be seen how much money will be spent on this one. It also remains to be seen whether after eight years, the combination of Bhagnani, Dhawan and Govinda can retain the charisma of creating box-office wonders.
