MUMBAI: Venus has acquired the overseas distribution rights of PriyadarshanÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s upcoming movie – Bhagam Bhag from Asthavinayak.
According to industry sources Asthavinayak was quoting a price of Rs 65 ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ 70 million (Rs 6.5 ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ Rs 7 crores) for the movie. Going by that, Venus would have had to shell out a very fancy price to have acquired the rights. However, the price at which Venus acquired the rights could not be ascertained.
WhatÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s more, Bhagam Bhag is being made with a total budget of Rs 350 ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ 400 million (Rs 35 ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ 40 crores), thus making it one of PriyadarshanÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s highest budget movies. According to information available to Businessofcinema.com, usually PriyadarshanÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s films are made at a medium budget of Rs 100 ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ 150 million (Rs 10 ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â‚¬Å“ 15 crores).
The film stars Akshay Kumar and Govinda and is due to release on 22 December.
