MUMBAI: Veteran filmmaker Prakash Mehra passed away at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai on 18 May, 2009. He was undergoing treatment at the hospital and died due to pneumonia and multiple organ failure.
The last rites were performed by his eldest son Sumeet at the Oshiwara crematorium in Mumbai on Monday, which was attended by his family, friends and colleagues from the Hindi film industry.
Mehra made films like Zanjeer, Hera Pheri, Khoon Paseena, Laawaris, Muquaddar Ka Sikander, Sharabi and Namak Halal.
He was 69 years old. He is survived by his three sons – Sumeet, Amit and Puneet.
