MUMBAI : After Eklavya, Vidhu Vinod Chopra has signed on Amitabh Bachchan for yet another film titled Talisman.
"The film’s promo will be showcased with Eklavya, which releases on 16 February 2007", informs Chopra. "Talisman is an adaptation of a popular Hindi novel- Chandrakanta, written by Devaki Nandan Khatri. Chandrakanta is considered the first work of prose in modern Hindi," adds Thomas George, Chopra’s business manager.
While Thomas is reluctant to divulge details about Bachchan’s role in the film, he says that Bachchan’s get up in the film will be a unique one.
Chandrakanta is a fantasy novel, and tells a story of two lovers belonging to two rival kingdoms, Naugarh and Vijaygarh. The story was also converted into a television serial in the mid-1990s.
Both Bachchan and Chopra are all praise for each other, after working together on Eklavya. Chopra says it took him close to five years to write Eklavya and tailor it to suit Bachchan, and also that this is the actor’s best performance till date.
