MUMBAI: Milan Luthria, director of Balaji Motion Pictures’ musical multi-starrer, The Dirty Picture, came up with an innovative way to clear her apprehension over Vidya Balan’s bold role in the film, based on the life of the south sensation, Silk Smitha.

Sources say that Luthria made Vidya watch films like Chicago and Burlesque, which portray women with strong and overt body language. Vidya, who will be seen in a radically different avatar in the film, prepared intensively for two months for her role by attending workshops and reading with the actors. To ensure that everything went smoothly and to start the first day on an auspicious note, Vidya even organized a small puja on the sets.  

Meanwhile, Tusshar Kapoor, who plays one of her love interests in the film, was nervous on being introduced to Naseeruddin Shah on his first day of shoot. This will be the first time that the two actors will share screen space.

Tusshar’s nervousness was broken by the arrival of Ratna Pathak Shah (Naseer’s wife) with whom he shared a great working relationship on the sets of Golmaal 3.
