MUMBAI: Zee Cafe has launched a new reality game show, Cafe Mic Testing, which will look for the channel’s next voice-over artist.
Zee Cafe recently invited creative people from across the country to send in samples of their voice on CDs. The channel short-listed the best voices and is currently shooting a five-episodic reality show called Cafe Mic Testing with the semi-finalists at Blue Frog Soundlabs.
Hosted by VJ Sarah Jane Dias, Cafe Mic Testing aims to put the aspiring voice-over artistes through a battery of fun, unique tasks that will test their creative vocal abilities. The game show will follow an elimination pattern to select that one sparkling voice that will go on to become the voice of the channel, across all on-air promos.
The judges for the show include RJ Malini of Radio One, Mona Ghosh, a voice-over artiste and Association of Voice Artistes president Ankur Zaveri.
The winner of the hunt will win a cash prize of Rs 100,000.
Zee Cafe business head Sujay Kutty said, "It has always been a priority at Zee Cafe to stay connected with our audience. The hunt for a fresh new voice that will lend itself to all our on-air promos is an interesting way to involve our viewers in shaping the channel themselves. In fact, the process of selecting the best voice-over artiste is so much fun that we decided to showcase it as a game show on air. With an innovative concept, fun team tasks and a great anchor in Sarah Jane, we are confident Cafe Mic Testing will be a treat to watch."
Cafe Mic Testing is slated to go on air on Zee Cafe in early July.
