MACAU: Macau can hardly be called the ‘City of Blinding Lights’ but when Bollywood descended upon the place for the 14th edition of the IIFA awards, we’re sure that everyone there had eyes for this starry affair.
The IIFA Awards always throws up some of the best stars, and although the Kapoors, Bachchans and Roshans were missed this year, the rest of them made up for it with a glitzy event.
At the red carpet, many of the Bollywood actresses came dressed in their best designer wear. While Anushka Sharma dazzled in a long cream gown, Madhuri Dixit-Nene kept it simple with a black with a golden border saree that made her look quite the diva. Yami Gautam looked yummy (sorry for the terrible pun) in a shades-of-green gown.
Jacqueline Fernandez was in a hot red number, while Neil Nitin Mukesh too wore a red coat over his black shirt which, coincidentally, made him look like a Redcoat police officer from London.
Black is a favourite colour among many celebrities for such functions, and it was not long before a few of them came in in black. Huma Qureshi wore a full black dress, while the hosts for the evening – Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor – too were in black. Parineeti Chopra and Vidya Balan also wore black – the former a black one-piece, and the latter a black saree.
The IIFA event featured performances by many from the Bollywood fraternity, including Deepika Padukone dancing to a medley of all her hit songs from last year. Ayushmann Khurrana too set the floor on fire when he got jiggy with Parineeti Chopra.
Lest we forget, a major Hollywood star made a special appearance at the IIFA Awards while he was scouting for some talent for his next film. Action hero Jean-Claude Van Damme, dressed in white, even presented an award while happily posing for the shutterbugs.
It was a fun time for the larger Bollywood family, away from home and work. Such moments of togetherness and happiness are always good to hear of.
The Bollywood fraternity had a ball at the IIFA Awards in Macau over the weekend as Shah Rukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor hosted an event full of graceful ladies and dashing men.
