IIFA Day 1: Bollywood Steals The Show

The IIFA Awards at Macau this year is a bigger and grander celebration this time. It marks the celebration of 100 years of Indian Cinema.

MACAU: It’s celebration time at the 14th International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards as Bollywood gears to celebrate the 100 years of Indian cinema. Kick-started on 4 July and span over three days, the IIFA is a celebration of Indian cinema abroad.

Hosts, Abhishek Bachchan and Shahid Kapoor welcomed Macau audiences to Bollywood with their glitz and style.

From attending press conferences in Mumbai to a grand welcome in Macau, from handprints to some rocking performances, Bollywood truly stole the show on Day 1.

The evening saw hosts Abhishek Bachchan and Shahid Kapoor enthrall audiences and officially opening the grand IIFA weekend.

If that was not all, the evening saw some splendid performances by Dia Mirza, Arjun Kapoor making his debut on the IIFA stage, singer Pritam, Jacqueline Fernandez, who shook a leg with Sri Lankan dancers, Sonu Sood and King Khan, Shah Rukh Khan wooing away the hearts of the mammoth crowd of fans.

And to tickle ones funny bone were Boman Irani, Vir Das, who infused laughter with their ‘Punjabi’ jokes.

While this is just the beginning there is much to come until the gala awards night. For now as Abhishek Bachchan and Shahid Kapoor said, “let the party begin!”
