Well-known faces of Bollywood industry were a part of yesterday’s promotional event for Jammu and Kashmir’s tourism hosted by CM Mufti Mohammad Sayee. The event was an invitation extended to the film fraternity and its members to encourage them to choose the beautiful state of J&K as the prime location to shoot Bollywood films.

Some of the celebrities present at the event were actor Irrfan Khan, Anupam Kher, Rishi Kapoor, Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemmu, Manoj Bajpai, Gulshan Devaiah, Jackky Bhagnani, directors Madhur Bhandarkar, Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Vishal Bhardwaj, Sudhir Mishra, singer Sukhwinder Singh and actresses Gul Panag and Neetu Chandra amongst others.

The promotional event was held at Taj Hotel in Mumbai to gather the Bollywood celebrities to discuss about J&K’s tourism promotion. Actor Anupam Kher who was born in Shimla is very close to the state of Kashmir as it is his birthplace and has over the years voiced his opinion on a lot of political matters relating to the state of J&K. Thus the actor promoted the event.

The promotional campaign urges Bollywood to roll out its cameras and capture the beauty of the ‘paradise on earth’ that is Kashmir and redefine romance through the movies. Kashmir CM has thus asked Bollywood’s assistance to enhance the tourism of his state by shooting more films there. In the era of 1960s-80s all the major movies were apparently shot in Kashmir making it the number one tourism state and the CM’s aim is to regain that number one position.

The members of the fraternity had a long chat with the CM regarding the matters related to linking Kashmir’s tourism with Bollywood. CM Mufti Mohammad Sayee also promised to extend support from his side to help the filmmakers plan their shooting schedules in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. The campaign will thus help boost Kashmir’s tourism as Bollywood films have a large audience even in foreign countries.
