The much-awaited film Masaan that made India proud at this year’s Cannes Film Festival has released its official trailer. The film starring Richa Chadda, Shweta Tripathi, Vicky Kaushal and Sanjay Mishra has a very interesting trailer that was launched by the cast itself in Mumbai on June 26th, 2015.
Actress Richa Chadda gained momentum after her critically acclaimed role in Anurag Kashyap‘s Gangs of Wasseypur. The actress is one of the very few Bollywood artists who are up for doing low scale movies if the story is good.
Shweta Tripathi who started her career through television series has established her name quite well in the entertainment industry. Shweta had also accompanied Richa at this year’s Cannes festival where the film was premiered.
Veteran actor Sanjay Mishra was also present at the trailer launch of his film. He plays the role of Richa Chadda’s father in the film who reside in Banaras.
Phantom Films producers Vikramaditya Motwane and Vikas Bahl attended the launch of Masaan’s trailer. Interestingly director of the film Neeraj Ghaywan had assisted Anurag Kashyap in direction of Gangs of Wasseypur.

Masaan shows two parallel stories taking place at Varanasi in India. The story shows Richa Chadda as Devi, who is caught by the police in a hotel room which later turns into a case of extortion on her family.
Masaan was screened at Cannes Film Festival 2015 under Un Certain Regard. The film is all set to hit the theatres on July 24, 2015.
Masaan will see actors Shweta and Vicky in a romantic relationship where Shweta belongs to an upper caste family while Vicky comes from a family that is considered downtrodden by Indian society.
The trailer shows us glimpses of the incidents that follows in the lives of the characters in Masaan. Not only does it tell a story but it very much flashes sharp light on the dark corners of our society, all the wrong things that are hidden or just avoided.
Masaan’s trailer will surely leave you restless as it reveals the dark secrets of our society, a subject not many people care to touch. The trailer itself urges us to move past the prejudice and open our minds and look beyond the fake boundaries.
