Mohit Marwah, Kiara Advani, Arifi Lamba and director Kabir Sadanand were seen attending a special screening of Fugly. With just a couple of days left for the film to release, there is too much excitement within the team.
Vijender Singh and Jimmy Shergill were not seen at the screening event. Kabir Sadanand calls the film as a social thriller film with a message, and is very optimistic about the movie. Kabir is also reportedly very impressed by the performance of debutant Vijender Singh and has expressed desire to work with him again. Fugly is scheduled to release on June 13, 2014.
Mohit Marwah who is making his Bollywood debut with Fugly, has the lineage. His uncle is Anil Kapoor and his cousins are Arjun Kapoor and Sonam Kapoor. Mohit chose to go through a string of auditions and training for his break, as he believes the feeling of being self-made is incomparable.
Arifi Lamba is the co-owner of Bombay Berlin Film Production (BBFP), a film production and service company. Arifi made headlines when he appeared in the film Slumdog Millionaire along with Irrfan Khan and Anil Kapoor. Apart from Fugly, Arifi has been part of films like Prague, The Pollutant and Tere Pyar Mein.
Kabir Sadanand made his directorial debut in 2004 with Popcorn Khao! Mast Ho Jao, which sank at the Box Office. He then followed it up with Tum Milo Toh Sahi in 2010, and now is ready with Fugly. Kabir has all praises for his team, but especially mentions Mohit Marwah and Vijender Singh who he would like to team up again.“There’s actually no time to think of it. All four of us – Vijender Singh, Kiara Advani, Arfi Lamba and I who are part of the Fugly cast have been running around like headless chickens from city to city promoting the film. Sometimes when I wake up, I don’t know which city I am in.” stated Mohit Marwah when asked about his experience of watching his first film. Kabir is happy with the way the film has shaped up. One can see a sense of satisfaction on his face. He is happy that today Bollywood is open to new talent and is looking forward to doing lots of good work in future.
Mohit Marwah also stated that the time that he spent in New York, while doing a course from an acting institute, completely changed his life.
“Those two years in New York resulted in a life-changing experience and more than anything else, it completely changed me as an individual. In fact, everyone finds it difficult to believe that I used to be a completely shy, introvert boy before I went to New York. Now, I am just the opposite! Also my stint in short films and the experience of assisting Vikram Bhatt have helped me in understanding the process of filmmaking.” so says the actor.
Recollecting her first ever experience on the bike Kiara Advani said, “Two things said I would never do; ride a bike and colour my hair and I did both for this movie. And not even a bike, but a bloody bullet! My problem: I learned to ride beautifully, ok I can balance, but I can’t start it and I can’t stop it! So someone would start it, then I would sit on the bike, when there’s cut, a mark at the end 10 people would come to hold the bike for me to stop because I can’t, I don’t know how to do that. That’s the one thing I couldn’t manage.” stated Kiara post the screening. Fugly is shot in the mesmerizing locations of Leh and Ladakh against the backdrop of snow-capped mountains. When asked if his uncles, Boney and Anil helped him get his first break, Mohit immediately clarified and said, “Not at all. That’s not the way the family thinks. That’s not the way I wanted it. After I went to film school, I shifted to Mumbai and began auditioning like any newcomer for two years. That’s the only way to do it. I had a dream and I chased it.”
Here’s wishing team Fugly all the best at the Box Office.
