Amitabh Bachchan launched the poster of his first fiction television series titled Yudh, today, June 11, 2014. Amitabh Bachchan will be seen playing the role of a construction company co-owner Yudhishthir Sikarwar in Yudh.
He unveiled the poster in the presence of his co-stars Sarika, Aahana Kumra, Anurag Kashyap and Shoojit Sircar, among others.
Yudh, directed by Ribhu Dasgupta, presents an intense-looking Amitabh running away in a blue suit against the backdrop of skyrising buildings amidst dust.
“For quite some time I wanted to get an opportunity on television in which I get to work in a serial. I got in touch with Anurag Kashyap last January. Then we together took this forward. For me, it has been an amazing experience. And I am thankful to those people who have worked with me and helped make this series. I play a construction company owner. There is business rivalry and family issues along with health issues, which might be terminal. How he balances is what you will get to see,” Amitabh Bachchan told reporters here at the poster launch.
When asked about the USP of the Yudh, a humble Mr. Bachchan said, “The story is the USP of ‘Yudh’ and not me. I feel the directors, the writers are the main guys involved in this show. If there is no story then I am useless. I am a mere puppet and I did what they asked me to do.”
Yudh has a stellar ensemble cast with the likes of Sarika, Kay Kay Menon, Nawazuddin Siddique, Tigmanshu Dhulia among others.
Sarika has shared screen space with Amitabh Bachchan in the past, but when she was offered a key role in Yudh, her initial attraction was to again share screen space with Mr. Bachchan.
“When they came to me for this, the first reason I wanted to do this was because of Mr. Bachchan. It is an absolute pleasure and at times very disturbing, because he is so good at everything, to work with him. His energy level, discipline and timing. You feel you should’ve come before him or should’ve more energy than him. But all that translates into very good work. He is genuinely something. The way he works is very different from others. His schedule is amazing,” stated Sarika at the poster launch event of Yudh.
Yudh, is a twenty part mini series, and it has been co-produced by Mr. Bachchan’s production company Saraswati Creations and Endemol India.
Yudh is expected to go on air in July 2014.
