Madhuri Dixit married Dr Shriram Madhav Nene on October 17, 1999, an UCLA-trained cardiovascular surgeon who practiced in Denver. Post marriage Mrs Nene signed Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Devdas, and of what we know her marriage was on the rocks as Madhuri had a miscarriage on the sets of Devdas during the filming of the song Dola Re Dola along with Aishwariya Rai. After this, Madhuri relocated to Denver, US for almost a decade. Her son Arin was born in 2003 and Raayan in 2005.
In 2006, Madhuri returned to Mumbai with her family to start filming for Aaja Nachle. The film was produced by Yash Raj Films and was released in November 2007. It proved to be a disaster at the Box Office, though Madhuri Dixit was appreciated for her performance. She then went back to Denver with no plans to return.
But then in October 2011, she again shifted her base back to India, Mumbai, along with her family and looks like this time it’s for good.
Currently, Madhuri Dixit has been in news for two films that she has signed. Gulaab Gang and Dedh Ishqiya. Gulaab Gang is a film based on the life of a social activist Sampat Pal and her group Gulabi Gang. This film has been written and directed by Soumik Sen and also stars Juhi Chawla and Tannishtha Chatterjee.
The second film, Vishal Bhardwaj’s Dedh Ishqiya, is a sequel to critically acclaimed Ishqiya. Directed by Abhishek Chaubey, Dedh Ishqiya also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Arshad Warsi, Huma Quereshi, Vijay Raaz and Manoj Pahwa.
