MUMBAI: They say his home in the posh suburb of Juhu, Mumbai is a landmark unto itself. They say people travel millions of miles, from all over the country, just to get a glimpse of their favourite superstar. They say the crowds that collect on any given Sunday, if he’s home, number anywhere between a few thousands to several lakhs of people.
They say he is their God, and that they are just here for a ‘Darshan’.
Yes, such is the pull of a legendary superstar such as Amitabh Bachchan, a man whose mere name creates a frenzy amongst his most ardent fans. A man whose appearance causes roadblocks, because fans gather outside his residence to stop and stare at him, their cinematic idol, in flesh and blood.
Last evening, Amitabh Bachchan gave one of his now infrequent (due to his hectic shooting schedules) appearances outside his residence Jalsa. Fans were overjoyed upon sighting the Shehenshah, clad in a simple white cotton kurta pyjama and a cream coloured shawl.
Flashbulbs went off the minute Bachchan emerged from his home, and fans were in for a treat as he smiled and waved energetically at his admirers.
