Sushmita Sen Receives Mother Teresa Award

MUMBAI: Former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen has been conferred with the ‘Mother Teresa Memorial International Award’. The ceremony took place in Mumbai, on Sunday, October 27, 2013.

Sushmita Sen wrote on Twitter, “My deepest respects to all the recipients of the ‘Mother Teresa’ award tonight. Their stories inspired me and re affirmed my belief… to give and to serve is not charity… it’s humanity. This is a SIMPLE truth. Simple never to be confused with ordinary. I love you beautiful people.”

Sushmita Sen was crowned Miss Universe in 1994. She was the first woman of Indian origin to win the crown. After completing her reign, Sushmita went on to pursue an acting career in Bollywood. She started her career with ‘Dastak’, a movie rumored to have been based on her life, but the film failed at the box office.

She rose to stardom in Tamil blockbuster ‘Ratchagan’ and later, she attained commercial and critical recognition in Bollywood for her roles in films like ‘Sirf Tum’ (1999) and the comedy ‘Biwi No.1’ (1999). She has constantly been in the news for her link-ups as well.

Sushmita had been dating Rajat Tara, but broke-up with him after she won the Miss Universe crown. Then came Rohit (Timmy) Narang.

Post then she was living–in with actor Randeep Hooda, but had an ugly break-up with him. Later she was rumored to be dating Mudassar Aziz, whom she met in 2008 when she was shooting for his film ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’. But they parted ways 2010.

Sushmita has always lived her life on her terms and truly has a mind of her own. She is a single mother and has adopted two girls Renee and Alishah. We wish her all the luck!
