First content film :

2018 saw the change in Bollywood’s movies consumption with content driven film setting the pace and emerging as box office hits. Continuing to impress the cinemagoers and the audiences, Ronnie Screwvala’s next outing URI – The Surgical Strike which released on 11th Jan is the first content film of 2019.

URI is based on True events :

Based on true events, URI is based on the 2016 Indian army’s surgical strike on terrorist camps in Pakistan in retaliation for the terror attack on an Army camp in Uri in Jammu and Kashmir. Bringing to the big screen one of the significant and biggest events in the history of Indian Army, Aditya Dhar’s directorial URI depicts the reality behind the surgical strike by Indian Army on Pakistan, a true event which took place on a certain night in 2016. While the honorable Prime Minister Mr.Narendra Modi confirmed and discussed about the well-planned attacks just a few days back in his 2019’s New Year opening speech, the director Aditya Dhar had done a well versed and thorough research about the incidents, penning it down with utmost sincerity and will be bringing it live on the big screen on 11th Jan 2019.

Vicky Kaushal’s first action starrer

Vicky Kaushal has done various other roles but for the first time, Vicky will be seen performing hardcore militant action on the big screen.
Some of the daring stunts done by him in the film will definitely give you Goosebumps. He is intense, aggressive and everything that you would want in a military man.

Mohit Raina’s debut

Television actor Mohit Raina popularly known as the ‘Mahadev’ across the country made his Bollywood debut as captain Karan Kashyap. Being a Kashmiri and hailing from Jammu, Mohit feels strongly for the country and how our armed forces deal with the issues of terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir. The actor was emotionally moved when he heard the script and the realities of 2016 Surgical Strikes, he decided to take up this role as there couldn’t have been a better.

A different kind of war experience

Hindi movies that have been made on the war theme before have served us an emotional narrative but this is a hardcore army based movie that talks about what happens inside the war room, the behind the scenes decisions, which is generally not shown on screen. Vicky Kaushal’s movie also brings back the terror of the 2016 surgical strike in the most candid and original way. There is no extra emotional baggage, no love plot. The movie is a fantastic war experience and you will be able to feel the rage against the enemy growing every minute as the story unfolds on the big screen.

The film also boasts of an ensemble cast, including Mohit Raina, Paresh Rawal, Yami Gautam, and Kirti Kulhari amongst others.

Produced by RSVP movies and directed by Aditya Dhar, the film released across the country on 11th January 2019.
