MUMBAI: ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’, might just be another love story coming from the Dharma Productions banner and UTV Motion Pictures. But the film, even before it’s theatrical release has a HIT written over it.
Reasons? Well there is not one, but many.
Crackling Chemistry – What happens when two ex-flames after a gap of five years, make an appearance on celluloid? Sparks certainly will fly.
This is precisely the case with Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone. Their previous outing ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ might have botched at the box office. But in ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’, the chemistry looks sizzling and the actors seem to have set their real life differences aside and matured with age. This seems to reflect in their performances. It surely is the highlight of ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’.
Madhuri’s ‘Ghagra’ – Forget Munni, Forget Sheila. Ghagra is the new anthem. Ranbir Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit shaking a leg. Who wouldn’t shell out a ticket to watch them set the screen on fire, with their ‘thumkas’.
Pritam’s Badtameez Music: An album having song for every mood. ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ is truly a celebration of life. While ‘Badtameez Dil’ and ‘Balam Pichkari’ have been topping music charts, ‘Kabira’ and ‘Illahi’ set the mood. And there’s always an engaging item number for rescue. ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ has not one, but two. Madhuri’s ‘Ghagra’ and ‘Dilliwali Girlfriend’.
Ayan Mukherjee and Ranbir Kapoor – Who could forget, Ayan Mukherjee’s class act of ‘Wake Up Sid’, a story about coming of age. ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ is another extended version with Ranbir Kapoor repeating his class act. With much more maturity this time around. Can’t wait for Bunny and his antics.
Star Studded Package: Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, Aditya Roy Kapoor and Kalki Koechlin. All four actors have proved their mettle in their respective films. Their impeccable timing is a highlight of ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’. The promos have given a glimpse of their madness. There surely is more to it.
Romance Never Dies: Never have romance and romantic movies faded from Bollywood. ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ has those moments in abundance.
No BIG Release: While all the above are positives, which emerge from the trailers, music and the hype around the film, the real fact is that ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ releasing on 31 May is devoid of a BIG competition. The next big release is ‘Yamla Pagla Deewana 2’ (June 7), which surely is no threat to ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’.
Madness Everywhere: ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ has been promoted everywhere. From promoting a popular hair oil brand to associating a channel as a travel partner, ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani’ has been out and out involved with promotions and stars making appearances. Major cost recovered.
With all this, there’s the Dharma Productions and UTV factor. Now who would like to give this one a miss?
