Actors Aamir Khan and Deepika Padukone along with filmmaker Karan Johar came down here on Friday 21st November 2014 to talk about the evolution in Indian cinema. The actors expressed their perspective on this subject. Karan Johar played the role of the moderator at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit held at the Taj Palace Hotel.
The perfectionist actor Aamir Khan who has done some amazing films like Lagaan and Taare Zameen Par shared his point of view saying that, “Indian Cinema is on the stage of transformation, it has seen a lot of change and it will see many more developments in the near future.”
He also added that, “ The 70s and 80s which was the disco era was the most disappointing but however the industry saw some change from the 80s onwards and today even the audiences have changed their choices of movie.”

Aamir Khan also expressed that the actors are sometimes responsible as there is so much competition to beat a film’s ox office collection that actors fear from experimenting with good film. They choose scripts based on how much money it will garner at the box office. The film’s story is the hero and its creativity should speak for it.
Karan Johar, the moderator noted down the points and said “well the film makers and production house is to be blamed for this, point noted.”
Deepika Padukone on the other hand shared her journey in the industry where she revealed today people talk about my success but there was a phase where I had delivered back-to-back flops. I have a learnt a lot in this phase. I don’t belong to industry and that has helped me learn things with time and make me more conscious about my decisions, whatever I learn is on the sets, through interaction with people and also from the mistakes that I do.”
Also Karan Johar took a chance on Deepika Padukone’s diplomacy by asking her about Katrina Kaif’s performance in Dhoom 3. The reason being Deepika Padukone’s earlier relationship with Ranbir Kapoor which broke up as Katrina Kaif was one of the reason, both of them are now even living in together. However Deepika Padukone took Karan Johar’s question sportingly and said, “ Katrina Kaif is an extremely hard working actress and she was fantastic in Dhoom 3.”
