Another Birthday this week; Abhay, the man of offbeat cinema and of large popular fan following turns 37!

Another Birthday this week; Abhay, the man of offbeat cinema and of large popular fan following turns 37!

Every time I see Abhay Deol on the movie poster, I find myself pulled by some invisible force that promises a great experience of an offbeat character. Abhay comes from another family that has now been in Bollywood for generations. But Abhay is different, quirky and original…

Abhay entered films after choosing acting over other career choices like being an artist or a journalist. His artistic bend of mind and fine arts background is rather evident with his film choices that would best be described as unconventional.

From the unsuccessful author-successful detective role in ‘Manorama Six Feet Under’ to the happy thug of ‘Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye!’ to the secret super hero in ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt. Ltd.’ or the most contemporary version of Devdas in ‘Dev D’, Abhay Deol’s performances are engraved in the hearts of many. Every time Abhay Deol comes on screen, a refreshing performance is guaranteed.

Abhay developed an interest in acting through the medium of the venerable stage and has definitely carried forward his understanding of the medium and capabilities into the silver screen. Eccentric roles are the mostly the crux of his powerful performances.

This Deol has given the industry roles in films like ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, ‘Aisha’, ‘Socha Na Tha’ and ‘Ek Chalis Ki last Local’ few among more.

We only wish Abhay had entered Tinsel Town much earlier. More movies, more unforgettable performances and many more birthdays together…

Better late than never!

Abhay, here’s wishing you a very Happy Birthday!
